ABOUT ME

Jasmine Tsen, a dedicated lyric soprano, is currently charting her musical journey as she pursues a Diploma in Music Performance at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA). 

Her musical odyssey commenced in her formative years during primary school, where she initially showcased her talent as a trumpeter in the school's brass band. Notably, she took center stage as the soloist in the Singapore Youth Festival, laying the foundation for her passion in musical performance. Upon relocating to Malaysia, Jasmine transitioned to vocal performances, becoming an active vocalist in her school. Prior to her enrollment at NAFA, she earned certificates in Trinity Grade 8 Singing, Grade 5 Piano, and ABRSM Grade 5 Theory, reflecting her commitment to musical excellence. Encouraged by family, teachers, and peers, Jasmine embarked on a journey to pursue professional music education in Singapore. 

As a chorister, Jasmine has lent her voice to various chorus performances, including a recording of the Sarawak Medley 2020. Her performances in Singapore, notably at NAFA's music platform, have earned her praise for her exceptional interpretation of a Baroque piece by Henry Purcell. The NAFA Singing Competition further showcased her talent, garnering numerous compliments. 

Jasmine's commitment to learning is evident through her active participation in school events and her continuous pursuit of improvement. Beyond her vocal prowess, her passion for music, combined with remarkable communication skills, positions her as a promising educator. Her academic excellence has been recognized with an offer of the MOE Tuition Grant. 

Jasmine's operatic journey at NAFA has seen her embodying roles such as Arsamene in Handel's "Serse" and Papagena in Mozart's "Die Zauberflöte." Additionally, she serves as the soprano of the chamber choral group, Momentous. Anticipated performances include appearances in NAFA's vocal platform and concert series. In April 2024, Jasmine will join the school chorus for a memorable performance, culminating in her graduation recital that marks the conclusion of the semester. Jasmine Tsen's musical voyage continues to captivate audiences and inspire those around her with her talent, dedication, and unwavering passion for the art of music.
